Third game for the 20 Games Challenge, Frogger. Got to learn more about tile maps, which is cool. Simple particle system, too. On to the features list:

You are a ~frog~. Reach the safety of lily pads over the river!

  • Hop around! Press arrow keys to move around, one tile at a time!
  • No zebra crosses? The road is filled with vehicles going around and about. Be careful not to get squished!
  • Can't frogs swim? Yes they can. But let's say there are hungry fish in the river so it's not safe to swim. Instead, hop to and from turtle backs and drifting logs until you reach the lily pads!
  • How many frogs? As many as you want! The game will end after 5 frogs perished, but other than that, there's no end to it, really.

I got an inkling on how to load a second level with tile map patterns but no, I didn't implement it because I've spent too much time on this game overall. So, unfortunately, there are some goals I didn't reach this time around:

  • No crocodiles, snakes, birds
  • No music
  • No sprite animation
  • Only one level, with no variation

Edit: For some reason, the particle effects don't work in this web export? I'm using CPU Particles, in Compatibility renderer mode, and it still doesn't work. I'm stumped, and I'm leaving it as is for this game. Unfortunate, but it doesn't break the game. Godot 4.3.
